Tips on spraying insecticides or plant repair products on indoor plants growing under lights:
Insecticides or any type of foliar or fungal sprays should be sprayed 2 hours before your lights come on or 2 hours
after they go off. This allows ample time to clean your bulbs as well as allowing the spray to dry. Dirt and liquids on
hot bulbs drastically reduces the effectiveness and longevity of your bulbs. Spraying with your lights on could also
increase the chance of seriously burning the foliage on your plants.
If you are worried about upsetting your light cycle and creating hermaphrodite plants, simply install a green
incandescent light in your room. The green light will enable you to see but will not effect the light cycle of your
plants.
Repair of spider mites damage heavily depends upon the understanding of the biology of the mites. The mites are generally
found on the underside of the leaves. Thorough application of any insecticide or plant repair product to the underside of the plant foliage is crucial
for maximum effect as this is where the damage begins, this can be done by spraying a fine mist with a pressurized sprayer that can be bought at any
hardware store for around $30.00.
Applications may be needed 3-7 days apart to cleanse your plants of mites that were in the egg and resting stages
during the first application, in hot temperatures an eye should be kept on the plants to check for re-infestation, or for
the offspring of mites missed on the first application.
